Year 10 Choices Workshop

The Year 10 Choices Workshop picks up from our on campus Pathfinder Day and focuses on post-16 pathways. This in-school workshop provides guidance on routes through sixth form and college as well as what is on offer beyond 18. Balancing information with time for self-reflection we will work with Year 10 students to give them tools to research which post-16 pathway they want to follow as well as putting these in the context of what doors might open when they leave compulsory education.

How is this session delivered?

There are three different delivery options for this session:
A short assembly style delivery for a large group (e.g. whole year group)

This would only cover the information portion of the session, covering what options are available after GCSEs and highlighting how these routes can lead to higher education.

As above with a follow up workshop for a smaller targeted group of students

We can offer a follow up session for a class sized group to be delivered after the assembly, either on the same day or a later date. This session offers activities and time for reflection to delve more into what students want to get out of their post-16 choices.

A one off workshop with information and interactivity

We are also happy to come into school to work with class sized groups covering all the content in the workshop alongside activities.

Accessibility

Access and accessibility are at the heart of everything we do and we aim to ensure every student who wishes to take part in our sessions can do so and enjoy them to their full extent. Please let us know if you have any students with particular accessibility needs, such as resources printed in large font, in good time so that we can make the required arrangements.

Student Ambassadors

We work with student ambassadors so that students can interact with current university students. We endeavour to bring ambassadors with us to every in-school session and will supply a list of names in advance. All our student ambassadors are DBS checked and have extensive training on working on our programme.

Teacher Role on the Day

We expect staff to support with behaviour management in the classroom and to support our staff in getting set up to deliver. This might include helping with projection or seating arrangements.
