STEAM Northants

STEAM Northants was an exciting week of virtual activities to inspire and enthuse young people in all careers and subjects around STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and maths). Activities from a range of industry based employers and subject experts in the field of STEAM aimed at helping young people from Y6 to Y13understand more about how STEAM subjects complement each other for many careers.

STEAM Northants also be offered a number of workshops for teachers, careers leaders and school staff.

HIGHLIGHTS include:

• Our hosts during the week  Jon Chase, science rapper,  Atomic Tom(with LIVE science experiments) and Sarah Cosgriff, Science Communicator
• Immersive Experiences offered a range of interactive workshops, including Asteroids, Comets, Dwarf Planets, Tour of the ISS and Relative sizes, scale, orbital periods, and motion
• We were SUPER excited to welcome the National Space Centreto STEAM Northants this year, offering a careers talk, The Frontiers of Space Exploration, showcasing a huge range of interesting careers, and professionals, from Astrobiologists to Robotic Mission designers.
• Northampton Museum and Art Gallery Find out more about the newly renovated Northampton Museum and Art Gallery, and careers in this sector
• Join Woburn Safari Park to investigate careers that are vital for running a successful safari park
• For students wanting to find out more about the NHS and STEM careers the fantastic MEDICAL MAVERICKS team brought us ‘The Senses Show’  and the ‘The Human Guinea Pig Show’.
• Games Art and working in the industry was popular this year and RARE and SUMO Digital provided a great insight in to how to get a career in games art and design
• Girls on Track UK and Williams F1 introduced the world of engineering  to encourage girls into the sector
