Pathfinder Days
Our long-running and hugely popular event series is a chance for 60 students to visit a University campus, meet current students, and learn about the opportunities open to them in the future.
What happens on the day?
During this highly interactive day, students are split into teams and compete to show what they have learned about the life of a University student. We challenge students to work with new people and step out of their comfort zone, giving them a taster of the University experience.
Activities include:
- Campus tour – led by current students
- University quiz
- Learning about student finance
- Think like a Student games
- Craft competition and presentation
What did we achieve last year?
We had a great time last week, thank you once again for the opportunity to attend the university and to inspire our young people.
Lucy Swain – Pastoral Administrator at Thomas Alleyne Academy
I was really impressed by the pace of the Pathfinder days. The information and guidance was interspersed with activities which kept the pace high throughout. I was also very impressed with the Student Ambassadors
Stuart Hayden: Head of History at Thomas Alleyne Academy
Additional Resources and Information
Access and accessibility are at the heart of everything we do and we aim to ensure every student who wishes to attend our events can do so and enjoy them to their full extent. Please let us know if you have any students with particular accessibility needs, such as an accessible coach, in good time so that we can make the required arrangements.
Please note that a portion of the day is outside, so students are required to bring in suitable clothing, and to carry a water bottle if appropriate.
For logistical reasons and to ensure the day runs smoothly, we are not able to provide catering for students, so ask that they bring their own lunch.
A complimentary lunch will be provided for school staff using local eateries.
Here you can download a copy of our most up to date risk assessment which can be used for your own records and trip planning.
Coach bookings will be organised by our team as part of your event booking so you do not need to organise any travel.
We want to make these days as accessible as possible and ensure all students who wish to attend can do so, therefore if you have any special requirements, such as an accessible coach please let us know so we have plenty of time to organise this.
Students remain the responsibility of the school at all times and we expect staff to support with behaviour management.
