Discover Uni Days

Our long-running and hugely popular event series has been updated for 2026! A chance for 60 students to visit a University campus, meet current students, and discover the opportunities open to them in the future.

What happens on the day?

During this highly interactive day, students are split into teams to explore the life of a University student. We challenge students to work with new people and step out of their comfort zone, giving them a taster of the University experience.

Activities include:

  • Interactive Campus tour – led by current students
  • Explore Accommodation Showrooms - escape room challenge
  • University quiz - show what they know and learn what they need to know
  • Student Panel - an opportunity to ask University students what it's really like

What did we achieve last year?

We had a great time last week, thank you once again for the opportunity to attend the university and to inspire our young people.

Lucy Swain – Pastoral Administrator at Thomas Alleyne Academy

I was really impressed by the pace of the Pathfinder days. The information and guidance was interspersed with activities which kept the pace high throughout. I was also very impressed with the Student Ambassadors

Stuart Hayden: Head of History at Thomas Alleyne Academy

Additional Resources and Information

Accessibility

Access and accessibility are at the heart of everything we do and we aim to ensure every student who wishes to attend our events can do so and enjoy them to their full extent. Please let us know if you have any students with particular accessibility needs, such as lift access requirements, in good time so that we can make the required arrangements.

Clothing/footwear

Please note that a portion of the day is outside, so students are required to bring in suitable clothing, and to carry a water bottle if appropriate. We will be walking around campus for a lot - suitable footwear is a must. Weather can be unpredictable, be prepared for wet/cold weather.

Food and drink

For logistical reasons and to ensure the day runs smoothly, we are not able to provide catering for staff or students, so ask that they bring their own lunch. Food outlets may not be open on the day of the visit and cannot be relied upon to purchase food.

Teacher Role on the Day

Students remain the responsibility of the school at all times and we expect staff to support with behaviour management. The day is very interactive and we are happy for teachers to join in and play along!
