Wayfinder Days
Bring your year 12 cohort to the University of Hertfordshire campus for an interactive day and help students learn more about higher education and all the key information they need to make an informed decision about their next steps post-18. Help meet Gatsby Benchmark 7 with a meaningful encounter with a Higher Education provider.
Book your place
We ask that you complete the expression of interest form no later thanFriday 15th November 2024. Meeting this deadline means we will have enough time to arrange your travel and communicate back the outcome of your preferences.
We will aim to confirm the date of your visit with further information via email by the 29th November. Please note that whilst we try to accommodate a school's preferred date this is not always possible. We look forward to welcoming your students onto our campus!

Information and Additional Resources
Access and accessibility are at the heart of everything we do and we aim to ensure every student who wishes to attend our events can do so and enjoy them to their full extent. Please let us know if you have any students with particular accessibility needs, such as an accessible coach, in good time so that we can make the required arrangements.
If students would like to explore the university before their visit they can access an interactive online map.
Students will spend a portion of the day touring our campus, and as such should be encouraged to bring appropriate clothing and footwear for the expected weather conditions.
The Year 12 Wayfinder Day aims to provide information, advice, and guidance on HE. The event will incorporate all the workshops that students in Year 12 might need in preparation for the year ahead.
This includes an introduction to UCAS applications and choosing a course, a session all about student finance and budgeting, and a Student Q&A which aims to answer any questions your students may have about university.
This event will be aimed at all your year 12 students, whether they are thinking about university or not, and will run across 4.5 hours. We will have an interactive quiz running throughout the event, and so we ask your permission in encouraging your students to bring their mobile phones with them to take part in the day.
Our aim is to make this visit a fun and informative opportunity to help your students increase their knowledge of higher education and encourage those from underrepresented groups to consider it as an option for them.
You can download a schedule of the day to share with students ahead of the day here.
Students:
We ask that the students are reminded to bring a packed lunch on the day or come prepared to purchase lunch. We will be taking students to the on-campus canteen for their lunch break and during this time students remain the responsibility of the school staff. Please note our campuses operate a cashless system so any purchases will need to be done on a card.
Please provide students with a contact phone number of a member of staff who will be on the trip for them to use in case of emergency.
Staff:
For staff we will be happy to provide a complimentary lunch via one of our food outlets.
Here you will be able to download a copy of our risk assessment which can be used for your own records and trip planning.
Please refer to our full risk assessment, prior to coming onto campus.
Please ensure you have sent us all requested student data before the day as this is essential for participation in the event. If you are not sure what data needs to be provided, please ask your designated officer.
Widening Access staff will run all activities throughout the day. However, students remain the responsibility of the school at all times and we expect staff to support with behaviour management.
Coach bookings are organised by our team as part of your event booking so you do not need to organise any travel.
We want to make these days as accessible as possible and ensure all students who wish to attend can do so, therefore if you have any special requirements, such as an accessible coach please let us know so we have plenty of time to organise this.
